Park Cabins
Over the years, on site accommodation has changed dramatically within
the caravan industry. Remember the little Jayco cabins we used to have
on the row opposite the amenities? No shower or toilet, just one open
plan room with mum, dad and the kids all in together with only a curtain
between them for privacy. Well, nowadays park cabins are so luxurious
they feature flat screen TVs, stainless steel kitchens and fixtures to
rival the most modern of houses. Two bedroom cabins have become the
norm and there are now even two-storey park cabins! Two parks within the
Top Tourist chain that have innovative cabins are Brisbane Holiday
Village with their Vogue Cabins, and Ballina Lakeside Holiday Park with
The Hub - cabins designed especially for family groups and business
conventions. Check out their websites to see the different styles. Don't
forget, if any of you would like to look through any of our cabins,
don't hesitate to ask: we're proud of them, and would love to show them
to you.
Brisbane Caravan and Camping Show
Queensland's 42nd show saw some 300+ stands and attendance records
show a slight increase on last year's visitors. Graeme and Anne were on
the Top Tourist stand as usual, but this year they also spent some time
helping out the Clarence Valley operators. This was the second year that
the Clarence Valley Tourism has shared a stand with the Council and
representatives from six parks in our region gave Faye a hand. Graeme
and Anne noticed that around 25% of the people they spoke to, had no
idea where the Clarence Valley was. They had heard of Yamba, but did not
know it was on the Clarence River. CV Tourism was a little surprised at
this, considering the advertising they have been doing. Consensus was
that if Yamba is the more well known, then we should perhaps capitalise
on that, and that will slowly educate people about the Clarence
Valley. We have been doing this ourselves for some time. Quite often
the website developers do not give an option other than Yamba or Byron
Bay...naturally we choose Yamba and then quite clearly state that we are
in Iluka, which is on the Clarence River. So it seems Clarence Valley
Tourism and Council, may have to adopt the same strategy in order to get
our beautiful area more well-known. Mind you, we quite like it being a
well-kept secret!
Anchorage Cup - 23rd July
Tickets for our annual event are now available for purchase at
Reception. Tickets are $10 per person and there will be a lucky door
prize, so make sure you keep them in a safe place. Kick off will be
11am, with lunch around 12.30. We will have a couple of fun things
organised, including a Fashions On The Field competition, so make sure
you dress up! We know you love to! If any of you have special dietary
requirements, please let us know asap, so we can in turn, notify our
caterer. Willy will be playing again - and we hope the weather is fine
and warm. Looking forward to the day, posters around the park will
remind you when/where etc.
Pool Covers
If you are in the park, you will have noticed the boys installing the
new pool covers recently. The pumps were working too hard trying to
keep the pool temp warm on winter nights, so the covers will hopefully
keep the chill out overnight and the pool will remain yummy and warm.
It's working so far, for example: the spa temperature was generally
dropping 9 degrees overnight but with the cover on, the first night it
only dropped 2 degrees! We thank the boys for their willingness to put
in the extra effort required to put on and take off these covers. We're
sure the extra warmth is appreciated on these chilly winter days!
Ducks
Are back, more's the pity. Please feel free to shoo them away if you
see them. They think the heated pool is great too, but cute as they
are...we don't want them!
Electricity
We remind everyone to please be mindful of how many appliances they
turn on at once...unlike your house, your caravan and cabin do not offer
unlimited power and you may overload your site's circuit. Worst case
scenario, if everyone draws too much at one time, like we had one year -
it may overload and pop the big one at the front of the park, which
will be a major inconvenience to all.
